For the past two weeks, we’ve been wrapped up in the glorious world of weddings, and we couldn’t be happier. We did a photo shoot with Heart of NC Weddings, visited Hillsborough’s newly renovated Colonial Inn, and spent some quality time with a couple of phenomenal local wedding photographers.
We’re thrilled to see wedding excitement ramping up, and not just because weddings are at the heart of our work. Due to Governor Cooper’s roll out of Phase 2.5, engaged couples are now able to plan more celebratory, though still intimate, weddings. We’ll toast to that!
In today’s blog, we share what Phase 2.5 means for your wedding. We also celebrate our partners in the wedding industry—the folks who help us make magic on your special day.
Phase 2.5 and What It Means for Weddings
The biggest change that comes with Phase 2.5 is the number of people allowed at a gathering in North Carolina. Mass gatherings in Phase 2.0 were limited to 10 people indoors and 25 outside. While this is still the case in Orange County through October 31st, the mandate changes to 25 people indoors and 50 people outside for the rest of the state. This has us hopeful for future changes in our area, especially for the spring wedding season! That would mean your guest list can go from sparse to spirited!
Of course, in addition to planning for an expanded guest list, you’ll also want to plan for the necessary precautions that come with Covid, like providing masks and pre-plated food. The Heart of NC Weddings blog has a great guide for what Phase 2.5 means for your wedding.
An Afternoon with Heart of NC Weddings
Sunflowers galore!
This gorgeous photo shoot took advantage of late summer’s sunflowers and early fall’s cooler temps—a match made in heaven. We were lucky to be able to sneak in a few behind-the-scenes snapshots on our iPhone to share here. The professional photos from the shoot, captured by the talented Heba Salama, will appear in the 2020-2021 Heart of NC Weddings magazine.
For the shoot, Beau showcased some of our favorite wedding delights: a charcuterie board, rack of lamb, Fritto Misto, and duck confit apple crostini. Thanks to Heba, the folks from Heart of NC Weddings, and our catering manager Katie, the spread turned out Beau-tifully.
We’ve been partnering with Heart of NC Weddings for a couple of years now, and every bit of it has been a joy. Donna and Jenna, the mother-daughter duo that owns and runs the venture, are so dedicated to helping couples find the absolute best vendors and resources for their special day. We are truly honored to be on their exclusive catering list.
Be on the lookout for the print edition of Heart of NC Weddings this winter. It will be full of gorgeous photos and wedding inspiration—perfect for your wedding vision board.
In the meantime, check out our behind the scenes snapshots:
A Dream Come True at Hillsborough’s Colonial Inn
As a small business founded and operated in the small town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, we are incredibly excited to see the historic Colonial Inn come back to life. Nestled in the center of downtown, the Colonial Inn is a gem that’s just been waiting to be polished.
Currently underway, the phenomenal renovation will restore the 28 room inn into an elegant boutique hotel that couples will swoon over. The inn is currently taking bookings for 2021, and we can’t wait to see this former diamond in the rough sparkle. We may even have to book a couple of rooms for ourselves!

Participating in this photo shoot was truly a dream, so we can only imagine how wonderful an actual wedding will be at the Colonial Inn. We feel lucky to be a preferred vendor for an establishment that is contributing so much to downtown Hillsborough.

Married to Our Community
You know what they say about raising a child: it takes a village! Well, the same is true of weddings. Working with local vendors streamlines your wedding planning. It also guarantees that you’re working with a community of people who trust and respect one another. That’s certainly true in our Hillsborough-Chapel Hill community of wedding planners, wedding photographers, wedding venues, and wedding caterers. We love working with and celebrating each other (and, of course, the couples who make this all possible!).
